Become an active part of the covenant community

We have been called to a lifelong following of Jesus Christ. Here we continue to give you some activities to do on a daily basis that will help you to know Christ more and to follow him closely!

Trust the Holy Spirit

When we came to Christ and trusted in him, we were born again by the Holy Spirit, and became the children of God. Now the Holy Spirit lives in us and we are led by him (Romans 8:9+14). Therefore we are not to get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery, instead, we are to be filled with the Holy Spirit and be wise in the way we live. The Holy Spirit who lives in the believers will:

1. Teach you more about Jesus Christ (John 14:26)

2. Lead you all the time (Romans 8:14)

3. Bring assurance of salvation (Romans 8:16-17)

4. Pray for you and through you (Romans 8:6)

5. Help you to live a victorious life (Galatians 5:16; 1 John 4:4)

6. Produce good fruits in your life (Galatians 5:22-23)

7. Fill you with the love of God (Romans 5:5)

8. Make you more and more like Christ (2 Corinthians 3:18)

9. Help us to tell other people of Jesus Christ our Lord (Acts 1:8)

Continue to meet together with other believers

When you came to Christ and committed yourself to his Lordship you were save from a wicked generation and became part of the new covenant community, the people of God. It is important to be part of a cell-group or home-group for the development of relationships and friendship and a sound growth in your spiritual life. The Bible says:

Those who accepted his message were baptised, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. (Acts 2:41-42)
Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. (Acts 2:46-47)
And let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrew 10:24-25)

According to the Bible it is very important that we come together with other believers and live together as the new covenant community of God’s people. When we fellowship with God’s people we will:

1. Encourage and spur one another towards love and good deeds (Hebrew 10:24-25)

2. Be equipped for works of service and become mature in our faith (Ephesians 4:11-16

3. Learn how to serve others (Romans 12:4-21; 1 Peter 4:10)

4. Worship the Lord together through praise and thanksgiving and by reporting the good things he has done for us (Psalm 149; 107:8-9; 40:9-10)

You will support the covenant community with your prayers, tithe and offerings, and your talents and gifts.

Serve others

We have been saved to do good works by serving others as God has planned for us (Ephesians 2:8-10). The Bible tells us of countless people who served God by serving their fellow men. Jesus Christ came to serve and give us an example to follow (Philippians 2:4-8). He washed the disciple’s feet and told them to serve one another in similar ways (John 13:14-15).

You won’t need to seek for long before you will find somebody with a need! There are so many needy people around us and so many unmet needs in our society! Serve Christ, serve the covenant community and serve those in need where you live!

1. Show your faith by serving (Ephesians 2:8-10; James 3:13)

2. Help others by serving them (Luke 22:24-27)

3. Carry one another’s burdens by serving (Galatians 6:1-5)

4. Being great means serving/To serve is a great thing (Mark 10:43-45)
