Live in the blessing of God
We have been called to a lifelong following of Jesus Christ. We will continue to look at some issues that will help us to live in the blessing of God in our daily lives!
Find the blessings of God in your trials
Even as believers in Jesus Christ we face problems in life. Sickness, economical problems and other difficulties are something you, as well as non-believers, may experience in this life. The big challenge is how we deal with trials and difficulties in our daily life in this world.
As believers we know that God is good and cares for us always. When he allow us to face trials it is because trials may help us to mature in our walk with the Lord:
1. We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him (Romans 8:28-29)
2. Trials can develop our character (James 1:2-4)
3. Trials and suffering can produce hope (Romans 5:3-4)
4. Trials can help us to focus on Christ and the invisible realities (2 Corinthians 4:16-18)
5. God will restore us and make us strong in trials (1 Peter 5:8-11)
Temptations
Temptations are a natural part of life for everyone, even believers:
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Jesus Christ overcame temptations by the help of the Holy Spirit and by using the word of God from the Bible. You can do the same thing (Luke 4:1-14)!
These guidelines will help you overcome temptations:
1. Watch and pray (Matthew 26:41)
2. Put on the full armour of God (Ephesians 6:10-18)
3. Learn to live by the Spirit (Galatians 5:16-25)
4. Flee the evil desires of youth (2 Timothy 2:22)
5. Resist the devil (James 4:7)
God will help you to overcome any temptation as long as you trust him and obey his will!
Tell others about Jesus Christ!
Telling our family, friends or workmates the story of how Jesus Christ gave us a brand new life is very exciting. We can share our new life in Jesus Christ with our friends through good deeds and through the way we live as well as through sharing our testimony. For a believer this is one of the most satisfying aspects of following Christ: that we are allowed to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to other people! The more you share your faith, the more it will grow strong, and you will become more confident in leading people to Jesus Christ.
These guidelines will help you when you are telling others about Jesus Christ:
1. Let your life be a witness to Christ (Matthew 5:13-16)
2. Be prepared to testify about Christ (1 Peter 3:15-16)
3. Trust the Holy Spirit to give you power and boldness (Acts 1:8)
4. Ask God to use you every day to bless somebody
Our apostolic strategy
We will always talk to God about people before we share the gospel with new people everywhere we are, at work or in our neighbourhood.
We will always worship God when we are alone and when we come together with other believers in our homes or elsewhere.
We will always belong to one another through faithful and down to earth relationships in the covenant community of God and not allow any human divisions to destroy our fellowship.
We will always take responsibility for training new believers to become true and mature disciples who win their relatives and friends for Jesus Christ.
We will always serve our fellow men with the love of God everywhere we go and we will allow the spiritual gifts to operate through us in such a way that people have their needs met by the power of the Holy Spirit!
